Wellings Communities - Carefreedom™ Living
Wellings of Calgary is pleased to announce the successful completion of a project completed through the Alberta Municipalities Electric Vehicle Charging Program (EVCP). In partnership with Nautical Lands Group, Grand West Electric, and Unico Power, new electric vehicle charging infrastructure has been installed at the Wellings of Calgary 55+ community.

This project represents a significant step forward in expanding access to sustainable transportation options for seniors. The addition of EV charging stations at Wellings of Calgary not only supports residents who already drive electric vehicles but also ensures the community is ready for the growing adoption of EVs in the years ahead. Four of the chargers will be used by residents of Wellings and two of the chargers will be open to visitors and the public.
The Electric Vehicle Charging Program is delivered by Alberta Municipalities with funding from Natural Resources Canada’s Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program.

Wellings of Calgary
Carefree Living Meets Carefree Charging.
For Wellings residents, carefreedom means choosing the lifestyle they want.
The maintenance free lifestyle of driving an EV needed a home charging setup that is equally care free.
“When we decided we'd like to explore options for EV charging, Grandwest suggested we speak to Unico Power, a local Calgary company that they had done several larger projects with over the past few years. The whole process from first contact to system complete and chargers activated took less than two months and I was really pleased with how smoothly the project went.”

Planning & Consideration
Whatever the Future may Bring
Implementing an EV Charging system is so much more than just supplying power to EV chargers on the wall.
Working directly with site superintendent Jeremy Patey of NGLC and Ryan Cooley & Larry Heckel of Grandwest electric meant an electrical design was produced that will serve Wellings of Calgary for the foreseeable future.
The electrical design made sure to accommodate the following benefits for the residents:
Wake up to a fully charged vehicle every morning for an affordable price.
Add as many EV Chargers as they want.
Stay within the capacity of the electrical system.
Avoid costing non-EV owners any money.

It all starts with Cerebro. The Cerebro™ Energy Management System (pictured) monitors and controls the level of every EV charger in the building based on the total electricity use.
Once a building has Cerebro™ EMS, it's set for the future. Total control of costs, future additions and building demand.
